Finding Spanish books can be a challenge when supporting Spanish language learners. There aren’t enough online publishers that focus on publishing Spanish books, making it harder for families to find relevant K-12 Spanish books. Pricing is always a concern because limited availability tends to drive prices up.

Cost is not the only concern when finding Spanish books. Availability is also a concern that relates to Spanish books. Below, I’ll share various websites that provide access to Spanish books via computer and tablet. I hope you enjoy these resources!

This site provides access to many books celebrating language and culture and cultivating a lifelong love of reading. Unite for Literacy supports families in developing a daily habit of reading, both of which are key factors in growing lifelong readers.

The ICDL Foundation promotes tolerance and respect for diverse cultures by providing access to the best of children’s literature from around the world.

Check out their free Spanish lessons and children’s stories in Spanish (Good for adults, too!). A website that provides well-known children’s stories translated into Spanish and read by native Spanish speakers. 

Free Kids Books is a growing library of unique children’s books. In addition, it incorporates literary resources and textbooks for children and young adults, available online and for download primarily in a user-friendly PDF format.

Cuentos are stories portrayed in books. This site allows families to access free books online for kids and young adults. As a site subscriber, you are notified of new books each month.

The World Digital Library makes online books available free of charge. Additionally, it incorporates a multilingual format with significant materials from all countries and cultures.

Access thousands of free books online. This site includes fiction and non-fiction books in different categories. Non-fiction books expose kids to content and language at the same time!

StoryPlace provides children with the virtual experience of going to the Library. For example, it engages kids in the same types of activities the Library offers at its physical locations. The site includes early literacy information for families.

Online Books Subscriptions

In addition to free access to Spanish books online there are also a number of websites that offer online subscriptions. Below, I share two of the subscriptions I am familiar with for online books.

Epic! has grown into an award-winning subscription service, which gives millions of families and classrooms instant, unlimited access to thousands of books and videos. Epic! offers a large library. It also includes over 40,000 picture books, early readers, chapter books, nonfiction, graphic novels, and learning videos.

Raz-Kids is an award-winning teaching product that provides comprehensive leveled reading resources for students. It also includes hundreds of eBooks offered at 29 different levels of reading difficulty, it’s easy to put the right content in every student’s hands.

Accessing books online is a great way to improve Spanish reading comprehension. Most importantly, reading development improves with constant practice and these resources provide the resources that can be helpful to families.
